Collierville Scavenger Hunt

On Saturday, Collierville Town Beautiful hosted a scavenger hunt. We had three pages of pictures options. Using our digital camera, we "ran" around town for two hours snapping 25 pictures. Each picture was worth a certain number of points. The strategy was in what pictures you chose. It was lots of fun even though it was very hot!

One favorite photo is the one at the animal shelter. We needed a picture with six dogs in it. The shelter was very nice and let us hold six puppies. It was hard to leave and not taking one with us!!

Cycling for Change

About a month ago, the group, Cycling for Change, cycled through Memphis. We made it a point to go the church they were visiting. It was very inspirational. My boys are still talking about the homily.

I have followed their blog since they left Memphis as they continue their journey to the Florida Keys. The entry from yesterday, Being American vs. Being Human, puts it all in perspective. It is so easy to get wrapped up in more, more, more. I hope to keep this entry at the forefront of my brain to help me keep the right focus.

Check out their site. You just might find it inspirational too!

Redbirds in the Heat!

Last night we went to the Redbird's baseball game.

It was 102F outside. With the heat index it was an inferno.

I sat in my seat for about two minutes. There was zero air movement.

We all shared two big lemonades.

We stayed approximately two innings - no more than 1 1/2 hours.

The Redbirds were down by six when we bugged out.

They came back and won!

We won too! We took refuge in a/c and had Bar BQ for dinner.

We can't wait for it to cool down!!!!

The Big Guy read the book, Born to Run, by C. Macdougall. I saw it on the library shelf thinking he'd like it. Oh! He liked it! He declared it one of his all-time favorite books. He reduced his reading rate just so the book would not end. He said that he has to buy this one.

As a result of reading the book, all my boys have Five Fingers. It was their back to school purchase on tax-free weekend. Whatever! I call it a "worship your dad" purchase!!

The puppy dog tried to tell them they don't need Five Fingers - bare paw is just perfect for walking!!

School Year '10-'11

It's hard to believe summer is behind us! My rationale for starting school so early --- it is so blooming hot out they might as well be in school in the a/c learning:)

Peanut set off for middle school on the bus. He was very nervous and got me all gitty too! I'd love to be a fly on the wall...

Pumpkin was up bright and early. I think he even made his bed this morning.

I'm off to work in a few hours.

Today is definitely a day of firsts!!

J*O*B

Yes! You read that correctly!

After twelve years, I am re-entering the work force.

Tomorrow I start working at YoLo in Collierville!

It opened last week and we've tried it twice. It is yummy!

I'll be ringing the register and a little bit of everything else while I am there. The beauty is I get to work just a few hours while the boys are in school. The store is down on the square and the atmosphere is quite refreshing.

I just hope I don't eat too much of the yogurt!!!

Rainbow Cake

We ended up thinking it looked more like a tie dye cake from the '60s! Peanut had fun making it and licking the bowls. He used every morsel of icing there was. In his mind, the sweeter the better.

Boy, was it yummy!
