Moving Day

We did it!  On Saturday, we got my inlaws moved in a few hours.  What team work!  They certainly raised some good kids who pulled together and made it happen.  I pray my boys took notes!

The Big Guy, Peanut, two BILs, a nephew, Pumpkin and I packed, loaded, unloaded, unpacked and decorated.  During this time, my SILs took their parents on an adventure around town.  My FIL was onboard.

Much to everyone's surprise, my MIL walked right in to the new place and noticed all her stuff around.  It could not have gone any better.

Here is the happy couple in their new place.
The charcoals above the couch are of their children.  They were drawn by a street artist in Jackson Square, New Orleans in 1970.  All enjoy looking at them.  Who knew simple sketches would bring so much pleasure.  The Big Guy hung them up in random order.  The pictures were quickly switched to birth order.  Too funny!

On Sunday, the kids headed back to the house and cleaned it up a bit.  We brought a few more things over to them.  We got to hang out while they enjoyed an ice cream social in the lobby.  The place is nicely decorated and all the people seem so friendly.

I snapped a few photos before my SIL headed back to Philly.  Here are the girls with their mom.
Here are the siblings that were in town for the move.  The move is a stress relief.  I think you can see that in the smiles.
A picture with mom and dad -
Another one with mom and dad~
Even one that is silly~
We went to their house today and did the yard.  We decided to take the day off and not go see them.  It will give them a chance to settle in.  My boys will head over there tomorrow to meet them for lunch.

There are lots of emotions swirling in everyone's heads.  But, I think most are releaved that they are in a safe place.  We are all bracing ourselves for a few bumps in the road.  But, so far so good!

One lesson learned - get rid of stuff!!

Prom 2012

My boy getting ready to head to prom
(Note to self - do something about the hair and opt out of horizontal stripes)

We all met for pictures at the Square
I love seeing the smiles on their faces
Look at the cuties!
I did not have the fancy camera
Can't wait to see the shots others took.
As I type this,  I am waiting for a text on updates.  We are all struggling to stay awake.  I took a little nap.  The Big Guy is on the couch in our bedroom.  Peanut was up all night last night at a school lock in.  He's wide awake because he slept all day.

I hope to hear that they danced the night away!!

Art Show

Last week we went to the middle school art show.

I made Peanut pose to take a picture next to his board.  I wish they did not do the board thing.  I wish the shows were more like what I remember in middle school.  But, I guess settting up displays, intermixing art work, and organizing it all takes too much time.  His self portrait in the middle of the board is a mosaic.  The details are amazing.  The trees on the right side are one of my favorites for this year.

Unfortunately, Peanut decided to opt in to extra PE for next year.  He'll only have standard art a few times a week.  I hope he'll be open to signing up for an art class when he gets to high school.  Middle School is a tough time.  His friends are all doing the PE thing.  And, it doesn't help that he is not fond of the art teacher.  What are you going to do?

We squeezed in the art show before soccer practice.  That is the way these last few weeks have been.  It is the mad crazy dash to the end of the year!

Phew...April...

Where did you go?

I started a new job.  It is not that many more hours than my old job.  But, posts have taken the back seat.

A few happenings during the lovely month of April~

Started knitting Wingspan as a birthday gift for my mom.  It is an easy knit and a great one to take in the car.

Attended lots of soccer games - 'tis the season.

Volunteered at Pumpkin's swim meet, even though, he wasn't even there.

Pumpkin went with the Chamber Choir to Chicago!  They had a blast and won the competition.  It resulted in an invite to Carnegie Hall next year.

Who knows how much laundry I've done.

Our weather's been warm.  I am just bracing myself for the summer!!

We are into May and it will fly.  The boys only have 16 more days of school!!  Hope I can hold on for the ride :D
