New Year's Eve German Style

We were a bit behind the eight ball in making plans this New Year's Eve.  We finally decided to try a local German restaurant.  We are so happy to have Peanut with us.  He ended up driving us home!

We had some yummy fried brussel sprouts.  They were some of the best we've ever had.  Not sure they were necessarily good for us, though.  Then, we split lots of authentic German food.  All it did was make us want to go to Germany.  Peanut is in his third year and is contemplating AP German for next year.  I'm thinking he needs to investigate options about going to college there!  Unfortunately, the beer acted like a sleeping pill.  The Big Guy and I struggled with staying awake to watch football.

Rocking CGA!

When I volunteer, I have to wear a hat.  This week, I grabbed the CGA cap because someone wore the plain black cap when he went for a run.  I had on Pumpkin's class sweatshirt too!  As I got ready to start the car, I saw my keychain.  Gotta love rocking CGA all the way here in TN!!

RIP, Coach

We got some sad news last Sunday.  Peanut's cross country coach passed away.  He ran for coach for 5 seasons, cross country & track, and three summers.  It's been quite an emotional pill to swallow.  There are a few races left in the season.  It will have some impact.
Here we are before heading to the funeral.  It was Peanut's first funeral.  All the runners were there to support each other.
Today, Peanut attended his second funeral.  A classmate passed away this weekend from injuries in a car accident.  Life is precious.  It is all very tough on the community.  We are ready for some good news!

Mojito

It was one of those weeks.  The Big Guy and I ended up going out for dinner on Thursday.  I ordered a Mojito.  Wish this week of fall break played out a bit differently!

Water Polo

Lots of fun this past weekend for Pumpkin.  They played water polo.  Their team did pretty good.  I think.

Good Luck Charm

A cross country grad from two years ago came to the meet in Alabama this weekend.  So fun!  He was a good luck charm too!  Peanut ran a 16:09.00 5K!

Trip Home

We said our See You Laters on Sunday afternoon.  Love the home T!  The rest of us are sporting CGA gear.  It seems like Thanksgiving is so far away!
After a weekend of fun, Peanut had to buckle down and tend to homework.  He worked standing up while charging his phone in Hartford.
He worked at the gate in Chicago while we waited for our connection.
Don't think he worked too much on the final leg.  It was late and we were tired!
So glad he was with us.  Wish we could hop up to CT more often!

Sunset Cruise in Mystic

With all of us together for Parent's Weekend this year, we decided to do some touristy things.  We went on a sunset sail from Mystic.  We went down the Mystic River and out into the ocean.  It was a lovely evening.  Pumpkin was a trooper as he's spent lots of time on a boat.  I think he enjoyed it too!

This is the Amtrak bridge.  It was open for us to get through.  Before a train comes, the bridge rotates on that huge gear to create a bridge for the train.  What a creative fix!

 Love seeing them chatting...
 Love seeing the boys together...
We saw the moon on the opposite side of the boat.

So grateful to the have the chance to see the beauty and have a lovely experience together.

Review at Parent's Weekend

It was nice to have Peanut along with us!
 Look at these two!
 Beautiful day.
My coastie colors gave the chance to talk to a few folks at the Academy.
Too bad for the funny head tilt!
 Handsome guys!

Nine days later...

It seems like I've forgotten about my blog.  I can't believe it has been nine days since I posted.

Today is the start of spirit week at the high school.  Peanut's class was the 1990's.  Wasn't that just yesterday?  Anyway, he wore the shirt the Big Guy had on when I was admitted to the hospital for my pregnancy bed rest with Pumpkin.  I have mixed emotions when I look at that shirt!

Racquetball

Last week at this time, Pumpkin and the Big Guy were off to play racquetball.  Peanut was the commentator.  He took some good videos too.  He did not play because he had to run later in the day.
I tell you what.  It is so nice having them home and all together.  It pulls on my heart strings as the time together flies by.  Only two more weeks, but who is counting.  And, I am not sure what I'm going to do after that.  Thanksgiving is quite a few more weeks away...

Twilight Classic 2015

Saturday night was the annual cross country night race at a local soccer complex.  If you look closely, Peanut is about the second boy from the left as they started the race, all 386 runners!
Here he is coming in to the finish.  Love the facial expression that was captured.
It was a hot one.  I was so relieved to see how strong he looked coming in to the finish.
Post race - hot, tired, and hungry.
For three years now, Peanut has worked in the Attendance office for Ms. Marci.  She was kind enough to come out and watch them run.
These two guys work together in the office.  This is their second year in a row.  They like it!
Of course, the best cheerleader of all was at the meet!  I know Peanut enjoyed having Pumpkin there.

Go Cardinals!

The Big Guy and Pumpkin are Cardinals fans.  In celebration of Pumpkin's birthday, we decided to go to a game.  Now, I think we all are fans!  I have to admit, though, the drive to St. Louis is boring!

Here we are leaving the hotel before the game.  We weren't glistening, yet.
It was very hot outside.  Busch stadium and the surrounding area is very impressive.
The Fox Live area, essentially all bars, was hopping before the game.
We had fabulous seats!  We got there early.  Each of us got a free baseball cap.  Pumpkin is modeling.
Look at our view.  It is a beautiful place.  My entire life I've lived east of the Mississippi.  St. Louis plays with my sense of direction as the river is on the east.

The worst part was that the Cardinals lost.  That was a bummer!
Of course, we had to try some Ted Drewes after the game.
Bright and early this morning, Pumpkin hopped on a plane to go back to CT.  It was a very fast weekend, but was wonderful to see him.  What you can't see in this selfie is that we are wearing matching shirts.
We are so proud of all that he is doing.  We will see him soon.  Parents' Weekend is in three weeks!
