Lady A

The Big Guy was so excited on my birthday.  He presented me with tickets to see Lady Antebellum.  I enjoy their music and regularly pop their CD in.  I was floored with the gift.  It was very creative.  It was a date for the two of us, something we don't work in often enough.

The concert was Thursday night at an outdoor ampitheater.  Our high temperature was 102.  We were looking forward to hearing them sing, but just could not imagine enjoying an outdoor concert in the hot weather.  We even briefly contemplated selling the tickets on Craigslist.

I am so glad we didn't!

A "friend" even joind us for a bit.  I am glad to say that was the last friend that hopped in on us that night.
We took our blanket and settled in for the concert.  Once the sun went down, it was hot but not too bad.

We could not touch each other too much.  It was way too hot!
The concert was wonderful.  The Big Guy was such a trooper.  He is not all that familar with Lady A, but he enjoyed it.  Darius Rucker opened for them.  He was great.  I had no idea he'd switched to country music.  It was a fun night.  Traffic was horrible getting out of the lot.  We did not get home until WAY past our bedtime and we ended up grabbing a drink/snack at McDonald's.  We haven't been there in a LONG time.  Who know so many folks went to McDonald's at 12:30am!  Hard to believe.

I just might have to buy the other Lady A cd...

Oh, and cowboy boots and sundresses or cowboy boots with short short - who knew?

Car Wash, Driving Thru the Car Wash

First time behind the wheel at the car wash.  It is one of those you put the car in neutral and it pulls you along.  He did great and the 16 year old relic (aka Volvo) loved the attention!

Happy Father's Day, Dads!

My dad passed away 16 years ago.  I still think about him everyday.  Look at what a cute boy he was!  I love those dark brown, innocent eyes.
I don't know exactly when this was taken.  Genetics, the subject, warms my heart.  When I look at my siblings, my nieces, and my nephews, I see my dad.  What a treat that is.  Pumpkin does not have the dark eyes, but he has that stare.  We think Peanut might inherit the "five o'clock shadow."
We celebrated the Big Guy's Father's Day this evening as Pumpkin has to lifeguard all day tomorrow.  We are going to stop in and see David's dad in the afternoon.  We'll see how that goes.  All he talks about, lately, is moving back to their house.  We need all the prayers we can get to keep them in assisted living.

Hope all the dads out there enjoy their day!

Drive-In

The drive-in was a success
Two of the four,
 had never been before

I enjoyed MIB3.  Not so much for Avengers.  It started WAY past my bedtime!  The Big Guy ended up sleeping in the driver's seat of the Volvo.  Slowly, we lost the boys one by one, packing it in after midnight.

To top the night off, the CRV did not start.  We'd brought two cars.  Thank goodness!  We pulled out the jumper cables and got the CRV running in no time.  I know my Dad would have been impressed with that one.

Sunset on the Square

Each Thursday night in June & July, there are concerts on the town square.  The weather was fabulous this past Thursday.  We coerced Peanut to come along.  We packed some food buying burgers to round out our dinner.

Each person that shows up gets a ticket.  They hold drawings when the band takes a break.  We always wonder if we'll win.  This week we were lucky!  If you look closely, the Big Guy has the blue tshirt on to the left of the blue pop-up tent.  We won an ad for the local newspaper.  I am going to take it to work with me for the dentists to use.
Look even closer, blue t-shirt to right of man in green chair in the foreground.
Walking to claim prize - above head of person in the foreground.
A woman sitting in front of us won too.  She got a $50 gc to a local furniture store.

As it turns out, Peanut's buddies were all at the Square.  A group of them ended up sleeping over at a friend's house.  It doesn't get much better than that!!

Tuesday = Fourteen!

It is hard to believe that my baby is now 14!

For the first time in his life, I had to work on his birthday.  I felt guilty.  To make up for it, the Big Guy took the day off.  They loaded their road bikes into the car and headed for the Greenline.  All was going well until the Big Guy got a flat less than a mile in.  He did not bring any repair stuff as there used to be a bike shop where they planned to enter the trail.  Unfotunately, there is not a bike shop there anymore:-(  He sent the boys on their way by themselves.  They loved it.  Peanut moved up to the next bigger road bike that we have.  It was Pumpkin's original that's been in the attic for a few.  Again, hard to believe that my baby is getting so big!

Peanut opened his presents when I got home from work.  I think the smile captures it all.  He got Xbox, an IOU, and Reese's.  Gotta love it!

We searched high and low for a GPS watch that he wanted.  We ended up having to order one online and it did not get here until the day after his birthday.  He is thrilled with it.  He is registered to run the St. Jude half marathon in December.  I think the watch will get a workout.
Peanut had a 5v5 soccer game and then we all went out to dinner.

After dinner and a much needed shower, Peanut enjoyed his birthday dessert.  He requested a sugar cookie pizza topped with fruit.  This boy has my genes!  Pumpkin could not understand why you'd mess up a good thing by adding fruit on the top!
We continue the celebration tonight.  Peanut's invited some boys over to spend the night.  We are going to do the drive-in, MIB 3 followed by the Avengers.  Should be a fun one!

Happy 90th Birthday, Marmaduke!

We had a celebration for mom on Saturday.  It was wonderful.

Hard to believe she is 90 as of today!
It was just Peanut and I for the party in Cincinnati.
For her birthday, I made her the shawl she has on.  It is Wingspan from Ravelry.  You use self-striping sock yarn.  I wasn't as impressed with it until I saw it on her.  It is small enough to put in her purse and use when the air conditioning gets to be too much this summer.

Wow!  Hard to believe the Matriach of my family entered her tenth decade.  She was my age when she found out she was pregnant with me.  I can't imagine that right now.  But, I am extremely grateful.

Happy Birthday, Mom!
