Another State Pic

Wish the lighting was better on this one...
One more swim meet this weekend, The Southeastern Short Course Championships.  Pumpkin is a little stuffed up.  Hope that is not an issue!

Valentine's Day 2013

The tradition continued.  We got the china, crystal and silver out to enjoy our Valentine's dinner.

This year I had to work resulting in a very simple menu.  I found some heart shaped ravioli from Costco  and added a meat sauce to it.  I steamed asparagus, the Valentine vegetable, as coined by the Big Guy.  Peanut made a pull apart sesame seed/basil bread and we added a salad.  We broke out a bottle of wine and did not have a problem polishing it off.  I think the aerator makes the wine taste even better!

Our gifts for Valentines are very simple.  The boys got DVDs and puzzles.  The Big Guy gave me a book.  I gave him one too.  I found this little knick knack for him.  It is just 3X4, if that.  It will be a perfect little addition to his desk.  Anyone who knows me, know that ice cream is pretty important.  I always joke that it is in my genes!
We finished off the meal with a brownie raspberry triffle.  It looks better than it tasted.  My boys still gobbled it up.

We even got all the dishes done.  I am very grateful for all the LOVE in my life!

Visiting

This weekend I got to spend some quality time with my mom.  We found the library at rehab.  She looks enthralled by a large print book.  Look, again.  She is so enamored by it, that she is nodding off.  Lots of factors make her quite sleepy.

Then, we got her playing Solitaire on the Ipad.  That kept her attention until the game was about over.  I was impressed with her willingness to try something new and even play with the Ipad.

It was a nice visit. I am extremely grateful to my siblings that help with mom on a day to day basis.  It was hard to say goodbye, but I look forward to seeing all the progress she's made by the time I return in March.

Portrait

It all started with a groupon.  I know better!
After close to three hours at a photo shoot (and a major investment), we ended up with a family portrait.
This is the first one taken by a "professional" of just my immediate family.
It is proudly displayed in our dining room.
As a side note, Pumpkin might only have 150 days left at home.  If he chooses his first choice, he's off on July 1.  As much as this picture makes me smile now, I wonder how it will make me feel then.
