Looking for Jupiter

The Big Guy got a telescope for his years of service anniversary.

They pulled it out the other night to see more of Jupiter. I think our trees were in the way!

Brooks Memphis Twilight Classic

Peanut ran in his first "real" middle school cross country meet on Saturday. It was held at the soccer fields. I kept waiting for soccer balls to come out - I'm a creature of habit and a bit slow on the uptake.

The weather was beautiful. Peanut ran 2 miles in 13.25 minutes! He did a great job and enjoyed it.

Here he is rounding the corner to the finish. He had quite a bit left in the tank, but he slowed way down to go around this corner.

Here you can see him picking it back up to get to the finish.

A friend took some photos as he finished. I hope to get them soon. I was so excited for him that I did not dig my little camera out in time!

Record Highs, Say Goodbye!

We are SO tired of the heat! Please, Fall, knock on our door!

Last week, I did not give the weather too much thought when I created the weekly menu. It is the middle of September, afterall! I used the butternut squash. I made taco soup and I ended the week with lasagna. Yes! It was in the high 90s and I was making lasagna. We are ready for comfort foods. Thank goodness for the a/c. We got to enjoy the fall line up in comfort. They say we are going to break a record today. The high is supposed to be 100! Ugh!

In addition to the lasagna, I made a chocolate layer cake. It is funny. Peanut likes store bought icing. Go figure! Pumpkin and the Big Guy are fans of the homemade kind. As you can see, Pumpkin licked the utensils clean.

Peanut got his own email address. It is fun to watch the beginning of all the correspondence. He doesn't have a phone nor a facebook page. This is it. Here he is checking his mail right before going to bed. Love it!

Vandy Kisses

It's taken me a few weeks of trying to upload this video. I think I finally did it!

Pumpkin put his Flip to use at the game. Everytime I tried to upload it directly to my blog, I got an error. Today, I sat down and uploaded it to YouTube.

Here's to Vandy Kisses~

For a bit of trivia, our first kiss was on the Vanderbilt campus specifically in the Towers on April 11, 1987! Holy cow! We are getting old:)

Vandy! Vandy! Oh! Hell, Yes!! The 'Dores beat Ole Miss 28-14!!!

The Square

We did things in reverse today. We went to YoLo's before we ate lunch. Man! It was good. I try to refrain from eating it when I am working. I look forward to enjoying the yogurt with my family. We all got something different, the beauty of the self-serve. The weather was great. We sat out on the Square and enjoyed our yogurt. It doesn't get much better than that!

We savored the lovely weather. The sun was shining, the wind was blowing and the humidity was hiding. Thank goodness! It reminded us of summer days in Pennsylvania.

I snapped this of the boys. They weren't too thrilled with me taking their picture. Oh! Well! I won out in this case!!

As payback, Pumpkin took this picture of us. It might have helped if I was smiling! I guess I also need to think about putting my whites away as Labor Day has come and gone.

Beautiful Day for a Bike Ride...

One morning last week, I was out for a lovely bike ride...

....until I pulled up to a stop sign at a busy intersection and was behind a feedstock trailer. P! U!

My heart did go out to those cows in the truck as I wondered where they were going

Vandy Season Opener

We drove up and back to Nashville yesterday for the Vandy vs. Northwestern football game. We could not have asked for better weather!

We stopped at the bookstore and Pumpkin got a new cap. His old ones were shredded on the front of the bill.

You can see Pumpkin has a long sleeve t-shirt on. The high was below 90 and he's breaking out the winter wear!

I think Peanut needs a haircut! This is the worst part of growing out the summer buzz.

This was sort of a birthday celebration for Pumpkin. He chose the lunch place, Ted's. The portions are huge. We ordered three burgers and shared 'em.

Notice the switch to the short sleeves.

We got to the stadium in time for the Star Walk. There were lots of people. The VU band was playing and the cheerleaders were cheering.

The boys in their seats - before all the people showed up. We were packed in by the time the game started. Pumpkin appreciated having a two year old behind him. Needless to say, he got kicked continuously!

I am not going to talk about how the game ended! It was a bummer.

The boys passed out on the way home. I snapped this when we stopped for gas close to 1:30am.

The Flip was in use this weekend. I have a cute video of David and me. I hope to upload it soon. I just keep getting an error when I try!

Birthday Celebration

No birthday celebration is complete without frozen yogurt from YoLo's! And, we all enjoyed celebrating with him!!

FIFTEEN BIG ONES!

Where did the time go?

This birthday Pumpkin got some of his required reading books - a used Jane Eyre at that! He got Madden '11 (Peanut was thrilled about that one!) He got a Flip video camera. Watch out YouTube! He was pretty excited even though it was 6:20am when he opened his gifts. I was working on lunches during the present reveal and am just realizing that he did not open all his gifts. Too funny! The Big Guy brought them to him but did not bring them all. The best, in my opinion, are yet to come courtesy of Zazzle. I hope we can find time in our crazy evening for him to open them.

I guess I should warn the locals. In the state of TN, you can get your learner's permit at 15. I am sure we will be off to the DMV soon.

It seems like just yesterday we were just sitting, holding and admiring that little bitty baby...
