Last year we dug out the two storm damaged maples. The Big Guy put sod down and it grew beautifully. We finally bit the bullet and added another tree to the front yard. It is a Little Gem magnolia and should fill the space perfectly. Remind me in a few years when the leaves make a mess that I chose this tree. I love the color, texture and depth of the leaves. It doesn't hurt that they are quintessentially part of the South. Hope we can keep it alive. There are blooms on it and we can't wait to see them open!

Oooh I love magnolia trees!! I'm having a little obsession with the South right now. (Maybe because of the very long winter and spring has been wonderful!)
