This weekend was a weekend of swimming. Not for me but for the Pumpkin. He had a wonderful swim meet. It started Friday night with the 200IM and the 500. He tied for 2nd with his friend and teammate. That is amazing given they touched the touch pad at the same time down to the hundredth of a second. It was a fun race to watch. He won the 500 looking very strong. It was a short night as he had to be at the pool for warmups at 6:30 am Saturday morning. This meet was a prelim/final meet where the top eight swimmers in his age group got to come back to the pool for finals at night. Saturday was a success too. He dropped time in his events winning the 100 Breast and completing a strong mile swim. Yes. He swam a mile! It makes me sick to think about. He was 10 seconds off a 13-14 year old qualifying time and he has 1.5 years to go before hitting THAT milestone. He did well at finals on Saturday night. It is great fun for them getting their name announced prior to getting on the block. On Sunday, the warm ups were a few minutes later. We got to sleep 30 minutes more!!! He had a great morning ~ again coming back for finals that evening. We are very proud of his accomplishments and the work ethic swimming is instilling in him.
There was one problem with the weekend. The chlorine level in the air was way too high. As a spectator, you even suffered from it. The swimmers were coughing. Needless to say, Pumpkin and I had rough nights last night sneezing, coughing, and grabbing tissues. We are very grateful for the holiday today. We are just taking it easy. I even finished my book! I have choir tonight leaving just a few hours to muster the energy and the ability to sing!
