Science Fair

This weekend we will be helping our older son focus on completing his science fair project. I am all for science - just not for these science fair projects. The experiment is done, but the light bulb did not light. Bummer! Welcome to the real world, though. The experiment used pennies creating a battery. The battery was able to produce about 13 volts and retained its charges for quite some time. He doesn't know exactly why the light bulb would not glow, but he has some ideas. I know my son had fun setting it all up. He learned about electricity, batteries, and he will learn about what to do when something doesn't turn out the way you planned. He has the fun part left. He has to write about everything creating a paper and posting the information on a project board. We'll see if he is done before kickoff! We've got some Giants fans here and they want to watch!!

The funny thing is that the younger brother is anxious to do a science fair project. He took his brother's books and paper clipped what experiments he wants to do next year. There are three of them! I am thinking we need to science Wednesdays during the summer where we try the experiments and just shelf the science fair. Do you think the teachers would go for that?

Have a good weekend!!!

I say try them out and pick the best one for the fair at school. That way half the work is done! Good luck to Elliot! I burnt a fingernail last year doing electricity experiments with the kids. I guess the battery was a bit too large!!!
